Waiting With Anticipation

Since ancient times, no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. ( Isaiah 64:4)

I don't know how many times I have read this verse but yesterday, when Pastor Jeff used it in his sermon, it was like I was reading it for the very first time. God acts on behalf of those who wait on him.

This seems to be the new road that God is leading me down. God wants me to wait on him to show me direction. He wants me to wait for him to move and not go charging ahead. This isn't something new that he is telling me but now I am ready to learn how to wait.

Before you can wait in confidence and anticipation you have to be able to trust that the one you are waiting on or for is faithful and will keep his end of the deal. It has taken God and I several years to work out the trust issue. Some days I am still better at trusting than others.

God promises so many things to those who will wait on him. He promises that if we will wait on him we will have strength. He promises we won't grow weary in doing good. He promises that if we will wait on him he will hear us. And Isaiah tells us that he will not just hear us, he will act on our behalf.

Father, today I come to you waiting. Help me to wait not just to see where you are leading me but,, like Isaiah, help me to wait with anticipation knowing that when you do act things will change dramatically. Today I choose to wait knowing that the one I am waiting for is faithful to complete the good work he has started in me.
